Topic: Vicarious Trauma
Dr. Irwin is a renowned professional in working with vicarious trauma and brought new light on the subject in her presentation at IREFT. She explicated the key concepts of vicarious trauma and raised attention to important points in identifying and treating this condition, pointing to the fact that vicarious trauma is multi-faceted. The following were discussed as important elements in working with trauma: Vicarious resilience, compassion satisfaction and vicarious transformation. At the end of her presentation, Dr. Irwin responded to questions of engaged and interested IREFT members with care and precision for which we are deeply grateful.
