Young children are the least powerful members of our society and the best way to help them is to help their families. Children are best understood when they are in their family environment and within the value system that their families represent and we need to work on parents’ capacities in providing for their children in order to help them. Change comes when parents’ engagement is won over in the course of treatment. Therapeutic modalities which consider parents as therapists are considerably more effective and this is because they involve parents in therapy.
